What Does Auracast™ Mean for Audeara?

From personal Bluetooth listening to audio that can be shared anywhere - Auracast is helping Audeara build a more accessible future for sound.

Audeara began by using Bluetooth to give people greater control over how they experience audio. Our headphones and listening solutions made it possible to take sound from a device and deliver it wirelessly, directly and personally to the listener.

Auracast™ takes that idea much further.

Traditional Bluetooth is largely built around a one-to-one connection: pair a listening device with an audio source and listen. Wired solutions physically tether the listener to the equipment, while traditional hearing loop systems rely on dedicated infrastructure installed within a particular space.

Auracast introduces something different: audio broadcasting over Bluetooth.

One Auracast-enabled source can broadcast audio wirelessly for multiple compatible listening devices within range to discover and receive. That changes what a Bluetooth connection can be used for — and dramatically expands where accessible audio can go.

For Audeara, that could mean a TV broadcasting directly to personal listening devices, a presenter's microphone reaching listeners throughout a room, or a PA system providing its audio directly to compatible devices without replacing the existing sound system.

And the listener doesn't have to experience the audio at the same volume as everyone else. The broadcast delivers the audio signal, while listeners can control the volume through their own compatible listening device.

Why is this such a big step?

Auracast brings together some of the strongest benefits of technologies that came before it. It offers the wireless freedom of Bluetooth, the one-to-many broadcasting concept of hearing loops, and removes the physical restriction of a wired connection.

Importantly, it is built on Bluetooth LE Audio, meaning Auracast is part of the broader Bluetooth ecosystem rather than a proprietary Audeara technology. As more hearing aids, earbuds, headphones, phones, televisions and public audio systems adopt compatible technology, the possibilities continue to grow.

For Audeara, this means we're no longer thinking only about the device someone listens through. We're thinking about the entire journey between the sound and the person who needs to hear it.

Our Auracast range is the next step in that mission — creating products that can broadcast audio, receive audio, or do both, and helping make everyday audio sources and environments more accessible.

We started by making personal listening better. With Auracast, we're working towards making the world easier to hear.
